Maya Guilmard is French-American, and is trilingual in English, French, and Spanish. She has a Bachelor of Arts in biology and botany from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She was a research assistant in several laboratories, including at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center.
She later travelled extensively throughout India, studying meditation, Reiki, as well as Ayurvedic massage.
Maya then studied Acupuncture, Herbology, TuiNa massage, as well as Medical QiGong and TaiQi at Five Branches University, a college and clinic of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), in Santa Cruz, California. She treated many patients in the university community clinic.
She also was an intern in the hospitals in the Zhejiang College of TCM in Hangzhou, and in the Chengdu University of TCM in Sichuan, China. She holds a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MTCM) from Five Branches University. She is a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, US Board Certified (NCCAOM), and is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbologist, California State Board Certified (CAB).
From 2006 to 2008, Maya had a private practice in Barcelona, and also worked in an acupuncture clinical trial focusing on back pain as well as oncology in the Hospital de Mataro in Catalunya, Spain.
In 2010, she worked as a volunteer at Yayasan Bumi Sehat, a non-profit clinic, doing Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for pregnant women, children, and babies, in Bali, Indonesia. She has also done volunteer work in South India Peru, and France.
From 2008 to 2011, Maya practiced acupuncture at the Lotus Health Center in Grass Valley, California. From 2011–2013, she also has been doing acupuncture for weight loss and digestive conditions at the Cambiati Wellness Program, a weight loss detox and cleanse program in Walnut Creek, California.
She now has opened her own clinic in downtown Nevada City. She specializes in musculoskeletal pain management, respiratory conditions, digestive issues, women’s health, prenatal and postpartum care, and emotional conditions.
